Rotherham College uses JVC’s GY-HD251 studio camera

May 07 2010 - Rotherham College of Arts and Technology has purchased three JVC GY-HD251 studio cameras from Quadrant Solutions, for use on their media courses. These flexible cameras can be used with the studio adapter or in ENG mode, making them extremely versatile for the students and very cost-effective for the College.

DMedia curriculum leader, Ricky Charlesworth, explains, “We purchased the cameras for use on our BTEC National Diploma in Media course. We are planning to use them on a variety of projects, including filming documentaries, conducting interviews and recording television work. The GY-HD251 studio cameras matched our requirements; we think they are the best on the market and they feel extremely professional.”

The robust GY-HD251 studio cameras allow users to capture and output both digital and analogue high quality HD signals at 50 progressive frames per second, making them ideal for live broadcasting. The uncompressed full resolution signal in either 720p or converted 1080/50i can be output via the standard HD SDI with embedded audio, as well as analogue component terminals, providing an ideal feed to a video server, HD switcher or microwave link.

“We carried out post-production on our i-desk, which has 20 Apple Macs, each running Final Cut Pro Studio,” Karen continues. “Overall, we were very pleased with the results from the GY-HD251 studio cameras; they offer a well-rounded, industry-standard package that consistently delivers high-quality footage.
